How To Connect Your Blog To Your Facebook Fan Page

Posted by Linus Ruzicka On February - 27 - 2010

It’s So Easy, A Network Marketer Could Do It

So this was a simple post – after my wife introduced me to it!  She’s the one that showed me how to connect your blog to your facebook fan page.

So I’m going to send her a shameless promo here and have you visit The Couponess.com to give her a little “traffic love.”

But really, this is a simple thing to do, as my tutorial video shows above here.  (If for some reason you can’t see the video, here is the direct link on Youtube – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMXikGO_RQM).

What I was Missing

I have a Facebook profile page that is already linked to my blog through my feed system so my blog posts show up there – but my friend count is already getting up into the 3000′s, so I knew I needed to start looking at building a fan page soon with the idea of building my contact list larger on Facebook.

I also have “The Official Linus Ruzicka” group page on Facebook as well, and have been using that as an accessory site to build a relationship with people, but the downside to a Facebook Group is that you have to manually insert your blog posts.

And I was not able to find an option to add your blog feed to your Facebook Group automatically as you create a post on your blog.

You can create discussions, add events, videos, and everything else that the Facebook fan page has – except – the “Notes” tab, which will allow your blog feed to auto-post into your facebook fan page.

If there was a way to automate things and make it easier, then I’m all for it.

My Dilema

What started all of this is that my wife was tired of having to copy and paste the content from her main Facebook profile page into her fan page.

She wanted to add her blog feed to her Facebook fan page.  So she started hunting around, and discovered the process I talked about in the video at the top of the page.

I have to admit, I was tired of doing the same thing between my profile and my Facebook group.

My first thought was to go and double check my Facebook Group – and sure enough, I couldn’t find any connection to add my blog feed to my facebook group.

Bummer!

I had already spent over a year building my Facebook Group, so I was torn if I wanted to go to the effort of building a fan page just so I could connect my blog to my facebook fan page.

So, to automate as much as I could, I decided it would be best to create a new Facebook Fan Page to allow my blog to connect to the Fan page.

The part I’m working on now is adding new friends and building my list on my Facebook Fan page.

The “List”

So it dawned on me, keep my Facebook group as it is, and use my new Facebook Fan page as a new “List” to build a relationship and contact with.

So I will be building my fan page with that design in mind.

When you look at my Facebook account – I now have my regular profile, my Facebook group, and now I have a Facebook fan page connected to my blog posts.

I think I’m pretty well maxed out for my account.

So, if you have any ideas of how to connect your blog to your Facebook account, I’d like you to leave a comment here so that others can learn from it as well.

P.S. Tweet MeMe Up – If you like this blog post then share it with your Twitter buddies too. It’s really easy to do, just look for the little green “retweet” button at the top of this post. It’s definitely appreciated.

Top 5 Reasons To Use WordPress For Your Blog

Posted by Linus Ruzicka On February - 23 - 2010

If you’re anything like me, when I first set up my blog about a year ago, I had NO CLUE where to start.  Should I use Blogger, Blog spot, WordPress, or any of the 100′s of other blog platforms that are out there?

I assumed a blog was just a blog.  Boy, did I learn otherwise!

After a lot of research, recommendations, and help from others (that’s the “Network” part of network marketing) I realized that I better go with installing WordPress for my blog.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with WordPress, it’s a blog platform that gives you a pre-built blog site for free.  But if you REALLY want to boost up your blog marketing – you really need to get a self-hosted WordPress blog and your own personal domain.  And I’m going to go into more details why here in the list.

As any smart marketer realizes – leave the hard stuff to the professionals.  So that is why I outsourced my blog set-up (which included the graphics, RSS feeds, theme, and connection to all of my social networking sites) to THE professional blog set-up guru I know – Ms. Shannon Shubert at IM Group Marketing.

I also self-hosted my site – and again, to another professional who knows a ton more information about self-hosting and is THE ONLY person I would trust with hosting my blog – Holly Powell at Nonstop Social Media.

If you stop by their sites, tell them I sent you!

Here are my Top 5 Reasons to Use WordPress for your blog:

1. Google Loves WordPress – If you’re using a blog for your marketing strategies, you’re probably interested in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – at least a little bit.  If you’re into SEO, then you want and need Google giving your site “some love.”  Now, I could go on and on and on and on and ON about SEO, but the idea is that you want Google ranking your site higher than your competition for any given keyword.  Well, for whatever reason, Google loves WordPress.  Period.  Game, set, match!  You need a WordPress blog if you are in SEO strategies.

Yes, you can use other blog sites and still get good ranking, but you typically have to work harder to get the same amount of “love” from Google as your competition.  If you already have a different blog and are so far into it that it would hurt you more than help you, just stick with it and MAKE IT WORK.  But AT LEAST have it self-hosted – which leads me into my next point.

2. Self hosted – I have this in my top 5 reasons, well, for a good reason.  (Oh man I’m witty!)  You can use the free version of wordpress and have no problems and make that work for you just fine.  But you could run into a few problems, the biggest of which is that your blog could be here one day, and gone the next.  If you have a self hosted WordPress blog, no one can touch it.  It’s yours.  Yes, you’re paying a small monthly hosting fee (usually around $5.00 or less) but it’s WELL worth its value considering the thought that you might lose your blog otherwise.

On top of having your blog self hosted – I would also recommend getting a domain name that is specific to you.  Mine is obviously www.LinusRuzicka.com.  It looks a lot more professional that the generic site URL that WordPress gives your site.  Having your domain forwarded is essential for branding YOU in this industry.

3. WordPress Design Themes – Now , do you want the generic WordPress Theme that comes with WordPress, or a custom designed one that is specific only to you?  The default WordPress theme is perfect if you’re just setting up a blog to have a blog.  BUT, since you’re in this industry to make money and brand you, I suggest a designed custom theme. There are tons of people who design custom WordPress Themes that you can easily upload to your domain, to change the appearance and feel of your WordPress website. Some of the WP Themes are paid versions, but most of them are free.

There are more than 1000 themes loaded directly into the WordPress theme website, from which you can choose, although you are not limited to just the themes loaded into the WordPress website.  Since I outsourced the design and feel of my blog, my designer and I talked bakc and forth for a week or so to grind out the details of what I wanted.  The theme I chose is very SEO friendly (“Monezine” theme), but there are many other to choose from such as “Flexibility” or “Thesis”

4. Plug-ins – This is my favorite.  Plugins are what soups-up your blog and converts it from a 1992 Ford Taurus, into a 2010 Chevy Camaro.  The right plug-in can save you time, make you money, and make your job a WHOLE lot easier.  In fact, I think I’ll make my next post on specific plug-ins just so you can see some of the money making ones you NEED to have on your blog (So make sure to Sign-up to get my blog updates via e-mail so you can get the next one).

Just like with the WordPress Themes, if there is a specific function you want your blog to perform, there are programmers out there who have created WordPress Plugins that will make your job A LOT easier. There are 1000′s of WordPress Plugins on the WordPress.org website (wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ ), which are free and an ever growing amount that are not in the WordPress database.  You just have to go looking for them.

When you find a Plugin you want, just click “Install” on that specific plugin page, and it will automatically download, unzip, and upload it to the right Plugin directory on your blog. After it finished its upload, simply go to the backoffice area of your blog to “activate” the plugin.

5.  WordPress functionality – Now, I don’t want to lose you here on this one, so I’ll keep it simple.  WordPress is an HTML based blog platform.  The reason I love that is that it allows you to do SOOOOOOO much more to your blog.  Whan you’re creating a post – you have the ability to add videos, pics, graphics, links, and audio all in HTML format.  The cool thing is, when you create posts, you can create them in a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) design – meaning that what you see on the screen is what your readers will see.  Or you can do HTML formating – all with a click of the mouse and flip-flop back and forth.

To Double check and see what your content will look like, you can “Preview” it and see it in real time on your designed blog to double check and make sure it looks the way you want it to.

Wow, that was a lot of content – so I will cut it off for now.  Stay tuned for my next post talking about specific WordPress plug ins.

If you have any questions about the above points of general comments, be sure to leave a me a comment here on my blog.  It is all about community afterall.  And be sure to either Digg or Tweet my post by clicking either of the buttons at the top of this post.

God Bless You,

Attraction Marketing – I’m Gonna Catch Some Flack For This…

Posted by Linus Ruzicka On February - 17 - 2010

“We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are
placed here for each other. If you are always there
for others, then in time of need, someone will be
there for you.” ~ Jeff Warner

My intent with this post is to speak from the heart.

This post is not meant to garner a lot of traffic, or a lot of hits on google, and I focused on absolutely NO keywords here.

It is just my thoughts on a page for you to understand how I think attraction marketing should work.

Have you thought about it?  What does attraction marketing mean to YOU?

Seriously – have you really thought about it?

And I mean specifically to YOU – not what your upline taught you, not what you read about in some article, not what you saw on someone else’s profile on Facebook on what THEY thought attraction marketing meant to them.

This last week I’ve taken some time to do some reading and reflecting on my own life and business.

Now, I originally I hesitated to even mention this because it would scare some people off, and I will probably even catch some flack for posting this – but I’m o.k. with that, because the message here is bigger than that.  And that is why I decided to keep writing and posting what I feel is necessary.

The last 4 Sundays in church, we have discussed a topic called “Just Walk Across The Room.”  Not going into too many details, the basics are that when you encounter someone that is asking about God, Jesus, Heaven, the Holy Spirit – you simply provide them an ear to listen to their questions and comments, and are receptive to your inner voice saying “This person needs you to listen and interact,” or “Be a friend, not a religious converter.”

It’s NOT about pitching a sermon on them, preaching to them about religion, or dropping a bible in their lap and telling them to read it so they will join your church.  WOW – talk about scaring someone away!!

As the lessons continued over the last few weeks, we discovered that as time goes by, those people will learn to see you for who you are as someone who cares, is a “REAL” person, is willing to listen, is NOT pushy, is not religious, or a bible thumper.  And in turn, they will start asking more questions and dig deeper into who they are and what they really want from you  – because they see your love for them shine through.

The final lesson this week talked about the “Big Picture” of Just Walk Across The Room and it was GLARING at me from the video screen.  The #1 Priority for ANYONE – no matter their religion, skin color, age, gender, nationality, etc. – should always be people, and more specifically relationships with people.

It REALLY is the #1 key to life – people and your relationships with them – period!

So isn’t that exactly the same thing we as network marketers should be doing?  Working on our relationships with people?

Stop our pitching and spamming,  stop our “Great New MLM Start up – Join Now” messages, stop hitting up friends and family to join us in our businesses, stop throwing comp plans and testimonials in their faces!

Isn’t that the same thing as what a judgemental, “hollier-than-thou,” religiously pious person would do?

How would that make you feel if someone came to you and was preaching and screaming about the bible to your face?

Have you stopped to think that maybe that’s what you’re doing with your MLM business?

One Final Piece

So at the beginning of this post, I told you that I had read a book.  That book is called “The Shack”.  If you haven’t read it yet, don’t worry, I won’t pitch it in your face.  But I will say that it is something that have found to not only be important, but has completely changed my life, turned it upside down, and inside out – but in good way.

I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t read it yet, and plan on reading it.  So I will keep this simple.  It is not religious, but it is about a relationship with God.  Throughout this book our main character re-establishes his relationship with God is a VERY unique and thought provoking way.  Nothing I would have EVER expected.

Personally, I find it to be honest, filling, and what I believe as God speaking thorough the author.  On a basic level, I find it being JUST what I needed in my life to answer some of my own questions.  But that is me.  You may get something COMPLETELY different from it.

What Do You Want In Return?

The key point of what I am trying to make here is that God wants us to not only have a close relationship with Him, but with everyone else as well.  You, me, him, her, them, they, us.  And the best way to do that is with love.  Love without a plan!!  No agenda, no goal, no motive, no conditions.  Simply love.

Couldn’t that possibly be the answer to all of this?  Couldn’t this be the ultimate in attraction marketing?  Loving human kind with no expectancies in return?

Again, I state the quote from the top of this post:

“We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other. If you are always there for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.”

I know that I will most likely catch some flack for this – but you know what – I took a vow to be honest, forthcoming, and stick to my core values starting this year and moving forward.  And so far, I think I’ve done a good job with it.

It is not my intention to hurt anyone with this post, but rather bring some light to something that I see HARDLY ANYONE else talking about in this industry – and is dear to my heart.

This is how I view attraction marketing.  This is what I have determined that it means to me.

I’m sure I don’t have to ask given how we “shouldn’t mix business and God”, but I welcome your thoughts and comments here on this post because I think it’s a topic worth discussing and bringing to light.  Lets see how far this goes!

God Bless You,

How To Increase Your Blog Subscribers

Posted by Linus Ruzicka On February - 9 - 2010

The other day I wrote a post on getting your readers and traffic to take action.  I focused on some strategies you could use to help steer your traffic to follow through with things you want them to do on your blog.

Today my focus is on how to increase your blog subscribers to your RSS feed from your blog.

When I browse on different peoples blogs, I see an entire spectrum of subscriber counts: 15, 55, 236, 853, etc.  It varies from blog to blog and niche to niche.

I have been looking at my blog subscribers vary from 9 all the way up to 20 at one point over the life of my blog.

I took a look at my traffic from the month of January 2010  and I had 2,664 unique visits to my blog.  That averaged out to 86 visitors per day.  Nothing to write home about – but I am still learning here (wink, wink).

Of those 86 visitors, I assumed that I should be getting 1 new subscriber each day.  Over the month of January that would mean 31 new subscribers – so long as my content was useful and valuable.  But as of today, I sit at only 14 at the time of this post.

hmmmmm…..

In the words of the eternal Foghorn Leghorn from Looney Tunes “Boy…that just don’t add up!”

So I went off searching for other peoples blogs for about an hour to see if I could spot some different things that I could do to increase my RSS subscribers.  But honestly, I didn’t find anything specific.

So I did a Google search on increasing my subscribers.

When I went to look at the different results that Google spit back at me, I started seeing a common idea that successful bloggers were mentioning.

It was the fact that psychology was playing into my low subscriber count.

They were mentioning that when people visit a blog and see the RSS Subscription links, many people turn around and leave without leaving their e-mail and contact info.

It all has to do with one word…

…”Subscription”

Really?  One little word?

Well think about it.  At the end of your blog posts, what do you ask your readers to do?

You ask them to subscribe to your posts right?

So why does “Subscribe” turn your readers away?

Well, like I said earlier – it’s psychology.

When you see the word subscribe, your mind is taken back to a newspaper or magazine subscription most likely.

What did you have to trade for that subscription?

Money.

Now sure, most people familiar with blogs know that an RSS feed is free.  But for the most part, when someone unfamiliar with blogs and RSS feeds sees the word “Subscribe,” it could have an effect on their decision making process.

They’re thinking of paying to get something.

When you look at my blog, there are 3 spots where people subscribe:  1. Upper left corner via RSS button, 2. Middle of right side Blog RSS subscribe form, 3. Subscribe button right under that for those that are more familiar with the RSS logo.

So, here is what I decided.

I took the advice from some of the articles I had read, and changed the text in my boxes.

Instead of “Subscribe via E-mail,” I changed it to “Posts Via E-mail”

Instead of “Subscribe via RSS,” I changed it to “Updates Via RSS”

These are my two main subscriber sign-up points, so those are the two areas I’m going to focus my efforts of change.

Now, granted, I am going off of the advice from different articles and bloggers.  And I haven’t recieved ANY results yet since I just changed the text right before I made this post.

I will be looking at it over the next month and let you know what my findings are after that period of time.  Again, as of today, my subscribers is 14.

So, in the mean time, instead of asking you to subscribe to my posts, I’ll simply ask you to fill out the form on the right to receive my post updates via e-mail, and we’ll see how the results end up over the next month.

Let me help you learn more of these strategies in person… Let’s get you the proper training and the proper strategist you need to show you how to successfully build your MLM business online – and surprise the pants off of your upline!

Blog Monetization – Is Your Blog Killing Your Business?

Posted by Linus Ruzicka On February - 4 - 2010

Lets take a look at yourself for a moment.  Why did you start blogging?

Was it just a convenient way to get your content out to the masses?

Were you trying to build a “name” for yourself and do some self branding?

Were you simply trying to make money from a blog?

Many of you started blogging to get more business.

OR…

…Did you start blogging to generate more leads?

Or did you start blogging to build your business?

I’ll be honest with you, whichever the case, it doesn’t matter.  Many of you are actually killing your business with blogging.

It’s very likely that up to this point, all of your blogging efforts have been killing your ability to convert traffic into leads, and therefore your business in the network marketing industry.

See, a blog is supposed to edify you as a leader, a mentor.  It is supposed to brand you as an expert in your given niche.

But many of us have gotten so wrapped up in generating more blog traffic that we’ve forgotten that we need our blogs to build our business.

The Initial Addiction

Admit it, it’s become an addiction for you to increase your blog traffic.

You’re busting out amazing content, you’re giving great advice, you’re helping other people.  You’re traffic is increasing because of this.

You get a thrill out of seeing more comments from your readers.  You love seeing your Alexa score increase.  You love watching your blog traffic growth charts ebb and flow on a daily basis.

But you’re missing a vital piece here.

Did you forget that you have a business first and a blog second?

The traffic is nice, but, the real piece of the puzzle lies in converting that traffic into leads – which is so vital to your business.

The traffic that you have coming to your site either finds the answer they’re looking for or gets the advice they need, and then leave.

Your traffic came and got what they were looking for.  They found your post and read it.  Probably liked it, and that was it.

You’re probably asking, “Wha?  Why didn’t they sign up with me?  My information is ALL OVER my blog.”

Hmmmmm….not so fast slick.

“What’s Your Purpose?”

If you’re new to internet marketing let me fill you.  If you’ve been in for some time, you need to hear it again.  This business is ALL about converting traffic into leads.  And then converting your leads into your business through a generic, self-branding sales funnel.

Well, where does your traffic find that information that will convert them? (Obviously without them really knowing about it – is just happens once they fill out the lead capture form or they sign up with you on a direct link).

Is it in a blatant sales pitch on the home page?  Heck NO!

Is it hidden behind some banner ad?  Maybe.  But how would they know it?

Did you make a special page for it?  Possibly.  But they’re not looking for it.

Your traffic didn’t arrive at your blog looking to sign up with a system or a business or even with you (sorry to bust your ego, but it’s true).  They were looking for some content that you marketed to bring them to your site in the first place.  Once you deliver on the promised content, they got what they were looking for inside.

Your traffic doesn’t see what you’re HOPING they see.  You know you’re blogging to get more business.  You know that you’re looking for new leads and team members.  But that site visitor?  He doesn’t even come close to thinking of that at all.  You need to get the idea in his head!

Location, Location, Location

Getting that “idea” in their head is easier than you think.

The very best place to place that “idea” or suggestion is at the end of that content packed blog post that he just read.  Simply finish each and every single post with a little plug towards hiring you.  Something like this:

“Building your online business alone will often not be enough to bring you success in this industry.  You need a good coach and mentor that can give you practical instruction on how to put everything together.  “Carl” is a leader in online marketing that knows his way around this industry.

Fill out the form below [a lead capture form is placed at the end of the post] to start working with “Carl”.  He will send you some free training materials on how to start marketing online.

See how that gets the idea in their heads?

Your readers visit your site looking for the advice and insight you were marketing – which is GREAT for your blog as far as traffic goes.  But it’s not the ultimate goal.  If you don’t remind them and give yourself a plug that you have something more to offer than just information, they won’t think of buying an affiliate product from you or joining your team.

And that is what is killing your business.  You need to monetize your blog.  Make sure your blog readers know what you do for your business.  You will thank me later.

As I practice what I preach, here is what I have to tell you today:  Since you are looking at Improving your MLM business online, you need someone to show you some realistic strategies and rules that will help brand you and improve your lead generation.  I am an attraction marketing strategist that can help both you and your business – but you need to WANT that success.

Fill out the form below to get my MLM Prospect Formula Newsletter.  I will send you my Free Training on how I can help you learn to market yourself and your business online, as well as a personal phone call from me if you leave your phone number.  Doubt it?  Put your valid number in and find out what happens ;)
