6. Become a Guest Blogger

Providing content to somebody else’s blog may sound a bit funny, but it is a creative plan to get exposure for your own blog and build your subscriber base.  Just make it clear to the blog owner that you require an brief section at the end of the post, with a backlink to your blog site.

Offer this back to the blog owner to guest post on your site as well.


7. Start A Podcast

Now this is a road I have never gone down, but it certainly a step in the future.

Start a related podcast on your material, and get it into iTunes and listed in the varied podcasting directories.

Mention your blog in each episode and the advantages of subscribing, and try and land some interviews with prominent players in your niche. Not merely will you be opening up a new promotional channel, you’re also making bonus content that may be reused as a part of your moral bribe campaign for new customers.

This would be an entirely new marketing strategy altogether.


8. Post in forums

A proven method since the first days of the web is to be a helpful and pro-active player in forums that are significant in your niche.  Folks will spot that you’re offering yourself up to others, and will likely be more inclined to see what else you’ve got to offer with your blog.


9. Networking

This is may be the most forgotten method for gaining traffic and customers. Don’t badger other blog owners for links, as it hardly ever works any more.  Discover a way to help them with something, and then eventually work that first graciousness into a business relationship and even fellowship.  There are real folk behind these blogs, and they reply to good will just like people do offline.


10. Cross-promotional deals

Here’s another cool way to use the Feedvertising plugin for WordPress.

Find a blogger that publishes related, but non-competitive content. Work out a deal where you both promote one another in your RSS feeds, using Feedvertising.

If one blog has more subscribers than the other, work out a deal that is fair for each blog. Since the Feedvertising plugin lets you create up to 6 revolving links, the smaller blog would push the larger blog steadily, while the bigger blog would reserve one slot for the smaller blog, and use the other slots for other cross-promotion deals.

There’s A Question That Keeps Popping Up.

“How can I attract more blog subscribers?”

Personally, I look at subscribers on the same level as pages-views or traffic.  Subscribers are the life blood of a successful blog, and I really wish that I had more of them.

So I hunted for ideas on how to start attracting more blog subscribers right away.

Here Is What I Found:


1. Make It Easy & Plain

As I have mentioned before in more detail, make your subscription options noticable, provide an e-mail alternative to RSS, and ask for the subscriptions.


2. Be Focused

Make certain you are targeting a specific niche, and the more specialized your subject matter, the better you will do. It’s key to step back and take a look at if there are sufficient readers in your niche. Is it better to discover now or six months down the road?


3. Provide a Bribe

Here’s a fun an sneaky one that I found recently. Now relax, it’s nothing illegal.

Here is a cool way to do it with RSS : If you’ve got a WordPress blog, use the free Feedvertising plugin to link to the download page for your free present. Since Feedvertising links only show up in the feed (and not in the post), only feed customers will see the link and have accessibility to the bonus.


4. Use Viral Ebooks

This is a spin on the #3.  Simply partner with your friends to let others GIVE AWAY your PDF E-book or maybe bundle it for sale with other products on their site. The PDF in turn promotes your blog, and you get free traffic in the return.


5. Dedicated Subscription Landing-pages

Create a page that’s sole purpose is getting a subscription, and push traffic to it from your blog, articles, forums, or actually any other source you would like. You may also forward it to a dedicated URL, and add in the moral bribe methodology  from #3 above to extend subscriptions.


One Last Thing

All that I mentioned above assumes that you are writing great content and providing value to your readers.  If you truthfully can’t say you’re doing your best work content-wise, start with that first.  But after you get that down, using some or all the above will certainly raise your customer count!

So, if you’ve been a reader of my posts for any time now, you know that I am a HUGE fan of plugins that are not only effective, but that build your SEO rankings on the search engines.

And admittedly, anything that has minimal effort with high effect, I am ALL game for!

That way I can focus on other things in the day.

So recently, I discovered a cool new plug-in that will automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog.

Even on brand new posts that your create!


SEO Smart Links

This nifty little plugin is one of those plugins that works behind the scenes and leaves your readers asking – “How The heck did he do that?”

As with any plugin, I give it a thorough trial before I write about it and tell you guys.

I’d feel pretty crappy if I gave you something that didn’t work well.

Then you’d write about me on Facebook, my family would find out about it, and then I just couldn’t live with myself.

Just kiddin’ of course.


Anywho!

Internal linking is a huge piece of the puzzle to increase the SEO ranking of your blog.

The more internal linking from post to post, the better.

Search engine crawlers look for that stuff, and will give your content LOVE because of it.

That is what this plugin does.

SEO Smart Links looks for keyword phrases that match the titles of your posts and pages by default (and you can enable categories and tags matching too). These phrases are then turned into the links. The matching is case insensitive and the original case is preserved.

So If I mention the word “WordPress”, which is one of my keywords and also the title of one of my pages, it will be automatically converted into a link.

SEO Smart links allows you to set up your own keywords and set of matching URLs.  So as you write a post that has one of your pre-set keywords in it, it will automatically link to the post that you set up with that preset keyword.

SEO Smart links also allows you to set nofollow attribute and open links in new windows.

Everything happens completely transparent, and you can edit the options from the administration settings panel.


Why Would You Want This Plugin?

Well, besides improving your sites internal linking, here are the other features:

1.  You can control the external links that send your readers to other blogs or websites.

2. You get full control with customizable options that you set up in your WordPress “Settings” page.

3. You can ignore list for keywords you do not want to link to from your site.  This is kind of like the “nofollow” code that you can manually add.

4. You can Add nofollow attribute to the links you do send your readers to or open links in new window not attached to your blog.

5. Caching for speed so that each time a return reader visits your blog, the page loads faster.

So, if you think you might need a little help improving your blogs internal linking, you might want to take a closer look at this plugin.

You can download or take a closer look at it here, or just go to your WordPress “Plugin” section in your dashboard and a do a search for “SEO Smart Links” and automatically install it there (A much easier route in my opinion).

I want you to ask yourself a question about your MLM training…

When you started off in network marketing, was your goal to build a downline or to build a team?

In fact, lets step back even further.

Before you even started off on your trek down this journey through MLM, you probably had a preconceived notion of what network marketing was all about.

Talk to all of your family and friends, and they will JUMP right on board with you.

And then when you actually joined a company, I KNOW that when you started off, your upline preached about building your list of 100:

Talk to your family and friends, co workers, neighbors, milk man, barber, mall kiosk workers, bartender, burglers, shoplifters, graffiti artists the arresting police officers, etc., etc. …

…excluding no one within a 6 inch radius of your personal space.

All in an effort to build your MLM Downline.


Where Did That Leave You?

Right back as square one right?

Sure, you may have built a down line of a few people, but they didn’t actually do anything but buy your products each month on autoship.

The vast majority of people in network marketing are in this ship.

Trained to build your downline, build it fast, build it strong.


Let Me Offer a Reality!

If you hadn’t noticed, that aspect didn’t really work out well did it?

Well, what if you shift your thinking a little bit and concentrate on a different point?

Have you considered that you should actually start building a Team instead of a downline?

See, when I think of a team, I think of a group of people that help each other to achieve a common goal.

In this case, the common goal is for everyone to build their own team, create an income from it, and help other people do the same thing.


What is Your Focus?

So, now that you’re in internet marketing and learning how to build your business online, where are you focusing your energy?

Is it providing MLM downline training or MLM mastermind training?

I’ll tell you right now that you are going to find more success with building a mastermind and properly training your team to do the same thing.

If you focus on building a downline – it simply becomes a game of numbers.  Each person is a number.

You concentrate on how many people you can place under you and how many each person can place under them.

There is no success in that.

If that is what you want,  you might as well focus on building your business the traditional way offline.


Your MLM Team

I personally prefer to build a mastermind team.  That is where I have found the most success.

When you focus on building a team, there is enrichment for everyone involved.

You’re able to build that relationship with your team – whether it’s within a lead generation system or within your primary company.

When a lead comes into my MLSP sales funnel, I do my best to build a relationship with them – phone call, Facebook connection, blog posts, videos, auto-responder.

I hold weekly webinars with my mastermind team.  This is an AWESOME way to help everyone out and keep them on the same page.

If you’re on Skype, consider building a Skype group to use as a social community for your team to interact and share thoughts on a daily basis.


(One Sneaky Trick)

If there is more than one person on your mastermind team using the same marketing strategy, consider creating a “tribe.”

Since I do a lot of blog and article marketing, a tribe created with the sole purpose of promoting and syndicating each others content is GOLD in this industry.

Spread the love and tell your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube, etc. about your masterminds content.

This is great for SEO improvement of each others blogs.

Remember yesterday I told you that I was going to keep you “in the know” regarding some of the stuff I learned at the Live MLSP event last weekend.

Well today is one of those little sneak peeks of something coming down the pipeline that you can certainly take advantage of and join as an affiliate today, so you can start earning commissions tomorrow.

A few months ago, I wrote a blog post talking about some of the ways you could monetize your blog.

In that post, I talked about several steps you could take to actively convert your blog traffic into leads – compelling offers, lead capture forms, etc.

All of these tactics were very much “on-screen” – meaning that your reader is reading your post and and somewhere withing the post, you leave a compelling offer and direction that you want your traffic to follow through with.

Simple right?  (…just nod and say yes!)

But today, I have some things you can do that are very much “off-screen.”  Things going on behind the scene that are not necessarily seen by your readers, as far as a compelling offer they read, but more along the lines of “Ninja Monetization.”

Things that are more hidden, yet still very effective and equally tasty to your bank account.


The Ninja Inside of Me

Last week I downloaded the Ninja Affiliate plugin… and discovered how EASY you can turn keywords into affiliate links – of course the ones that help you make money.

The feature I like the most (which is the CORE of this WordPress plugin) is the option to automatically convert your blog keywords into links to the affiliate product of your choice – even your old keywords from posts you’ve already written.

Why would you want to convert old keywords into affiliate links?

Just think about this for a moment – let’s say you’ve found a brand new affiliate program and you can’t wait to promote it to your blog.  You don’t have to wait until you write your next post, just use the Ninja Affiliate plugin and it’ll convert the keywords of your choice into affiliate links automatically.

You work once, and all the keywords you input, without you having to edit any post whatsoever.


How Does This Help You?

By saving you a metric ton of time, effort, and energy!

What I mean is this… instead of going back to editing links in your posts, you actually have a lot more time to write content and promote your blog – what will eventually drive visitors to your money-making links.

YES – we are in this for content and building value for our readers first and foremost.

But, as I wrote in  my “monetize your blog” post, we are all also in this to build our business.  If you’re not, then you’re missing the boat.


What I Don’t Like About Being A Ninja?

Glad you asked!

Well, maybe it’s just me – but there’s a learning curve to mastering this plugin, and getting used to it.  It’d probably take you a few hours to learn all its options and potential.

But at the same time, you can’t tell me about a plugin that doesn’t have a learning curve.  Great plugins take time to learn, and Ninja Affiliate is a great plugin.

This last weekend I had the pleasure of attending a Live MLM Training here locally.

Well, not exactly “local” as I had a 4 hour drive to get there, but you get my idea.

Well, you get to meet people face to face!  This has to be reason #1 for everyone.

So many of us are so involved with internet marketing, we forget that there is REAL people involved at times, not just some cyber pic of us on Facebook, Twitter, or our blogs.

This last Saturday, I finally got a chance to meet Norbert Orlewicz (co-creator of MLSP) face to face.  Yeah, I’ve been with him and the system even before MLSP launched back in 2008.  But I finally got a chance to meet up with him.  It always seems that the times there has been events in the past, something else always seemed to get in the way with our schedules.

Remember, building relationships with people is crucial to your business.  What better way to do it than in person?

Reason #2

Guest speakers!

Now, I’m not going to guarantee that EVERY live training is going to have phenominal guest speakers.

Some might be small and intimate.

BUT, for the ones that are small and intimate AND include a guest speaker – that equals BONUS in my book.

This Saturday we were treated to Todd Falcone.

How cool is that?  Small room, small group, one of the top producers in MLM today sharing techniques and strategies of how he ties offline and online marketing together.

Genious!

Remind me sometime to actually talk to you about his training.  It’s kinda crazy just how stupidly simple it really is.

I never thought I’d be eating lunch with Todd and Norbert – and spend our time talking about potty training our kids – instead of internet marketing.

Ridiculous!

Reason #3

Tips and Tactics you may never hear anywhere else.

Have you ever heard the someone else say, “You need to attend live trainings – that’s where all the tactics are given out!”

Well, there is some truth to that.

In this training alone, I know of at least 2 HUGE things coming down the pipeline that only a very small amount of people know about – and several small things that no one else is talking about yet.

But because of this training, I was able to start implementing these tactics right away before the masses got ahold of the information.  And I’ve been implementing them for the last week – way ahead of the curve.

And already seeing the success from some of it.

Networking with Other Local Marketers

Obviously, the internet is a WIDE open market you can meet anyone clear across the globe from you in a matter of seconds.

Someone that you could team up with to mastermind, bounce ideas off of, hold local “Meet-ups” to attract more people into your system or your business.

I met 3 outstanding people at this local Seattle event for MLSP that we are already contacting each other to get something started in our local cities.

Pics and Videos with the Host and Guests

Now, you’ve seen the two pics I have up here on this post.

That is just an example of the things you can use to help brand you as a leader and a mentor.

Starting out brand new in internet marketing, you’re head is probably spinning with ways to start branding yourself.

Well, this is one way to help provide social proof that you’re out there learning and getting involved.

Get pics with your upline, the top earners, the big names that are out there!

That is, unless you’re really good with Photoshop of course…
